Office 365 runs on my Ubuntu 18.04 via Firefox. Have 365 at work and can send & receive messages at home. Can also load & run Word & Excel at home. Not 100% functional but is doable.

Microsoft Office is a commonly-used, proprietary office suite. Because the Microsoft Office suite is designed for Microsoft Windows, it cannot be installed directly onto a computer running Ubuntu. However, it is possible to install and run certain versions of Office using the WINE Windows-compatibility layer available in Ubuntu. Ubuntu linux and Office 365 / Exchange Hiri was built for the Microsoft email/calendar and task ecosystem. It is the only desktop email client for Linux that works with Exchange (2010+) or Office 365, without installing 3rd party plugins. Go to our downloads page and try Hiri for free! Here is a method to sync OneDrive Business/Office 365 using GoodSync for Linux, which is free for personal use. Install suitable version to your Linux machine eg:./goodsync-linux-x8664-release.run. Sending email from office 365 mailbox through C# using SMTP. Is there any way to use microsoft office in ubuntu without using wine? Or any other alternative.

This one was a bit tricky so I figured I should share my experience. After contacting Microsoft support, I was given a direct link to a 5gb .img file which I then mounted. Running the installation from the mounted drive location started to work but then i got an all black dialog before crossover informs me of an error and the process fails. Next, I tried using a Windows installation to log into the Microsoft website and download the installer which I then transferred over to my Ubuntu installation. I had the same problem when attempting to install it in this fashion. In both cases, on the 'Select Application' tab I was choosing 'Unlisted Application.' I made one more attempt at installing from the official installer (not the .img file) but this time I selected 'Microsoft Office 2016' from the 'Select Application' tab before running the installer. Doing this caused Crossover to download several fonts and other dependencies prior to launching the installer and this time it worked! Instead of a black dialog box I was greeted with the splash screen/installation progress bar. Towards the end of the installation, wine did produce an error however I clicked OK and the installation finished soon thereafter. So far it looks like everything is working pretty well and I have not encountered any other errors as of yet. I hope this is helpful for others who are hoping to install Office 365 in a Linux environment. Good Luck!
